A Section From the Troy

Of all the places in the ancient world, Troy may be the most famous. But how many of us have heard of the nearby village of Tevfikiye? This film introduces us to one of the villagers, Engin Cumalı, who introduces us to ancient Troy. Engin has lived in Tevfikiye for more than 40 years, and he has been employed at the excavation site since 2000. More recently, he and his wife have started up a business carving replicas of the famous wooden horse used to trick the Trojans and conquer their city. The tour we take with Engin provides us with a slightly different picture of Troy than we’d get from an archaeologist, but it’s just as informative.
