Meybod is a historical town located in Yazd province in the deserts of central Iran. Karbafi, a traditional form of Iranian weaving, has been practiced in every house in Meybod for at least 600 years. But with the rise of the industrial textile industry, here in Meybod, as in all over the world, the time-consuming process of weaving by hand fell by the wayside. Today, there are only a handful of women left with knowledge of the complicated processes involved in Karbafi weaving. Ehsan Mollazadeh and Mostafa Sarooghi’s short doc introduces us to this colourful artform and the skillful hands and sweet language of the local artists.
