A “yörük” descendent of nomadic tribes originally from Central Asia, Mahmut Tığrel has settled in Elmalı, Antalya. His goal in life is to create a sustainable alternative to industrial agriculture based on heirloom seeds. From 2013 until today, his production has grown from his own backyard to close to 400 dönüms, on which he and his wife have planted 27 different varieties of wheat. Tığrel is the Goca Yörük of Mehmet Köprü’s film, which, at its core, is a love story between a man and a grain.
