A profoundly moving, exquisitely detailed portrait set among the magnificent highlands of Turkey’s Eastern Black Sea region, Time to Leave presents a deeply philosophical record of mourning, loss, and the sometimes destructive impact of tradition. Hasan, now in his 80s, returns to the place of his birth after many years living and working in Germany. His son Erdoğan, who he has left behind in Germany, is seriously ill and has one last wish: to spend a few nights in their old wooden house in the highlands, falling asleep to the sound of the wind. Hasan, who has neglected his son in the past, now races against time to repair their neglected home in anticipation of his son’s arrival.
