Sedat Benek

Born in Urfa in 1971, Sedat Benek studied geography before turning to filmmaking, graduating with a PhD from Ankara University in 2005. He is currently on the faculty of Harran University, where he teaches geography in the Faculty of Science and Letters and filmmaking in the Faculty of Fine Arts. In his 20-year-long career as a filmmaker, Benek has focused mainly on documentaries. In addition to A Human, A City, he has also produced and directed the films Residents of Göbeklitepe, which won the Süha Arın First Prize at the International Altın Safran Film Festivali in 2022, and the film “Harran School: El-Battani”, which received awards for Best Feature-Length Documentary from festivals in Istanbul and Paris. 

His film "A Human, A City" was selected for screening at Foça Film Days 2022.
