The Khanty are an indigenous people living in the mountains and forests of northern Russia. Their religious beliefs and shamanic rituals have been preserved since the Stone Age. What has changed in the taiga camps of the Eastern Khanty is the arrival of modern technology: solar panels, computer monitors, and the now-essential snowmobile. Anna Koryakovtseva’s film provides a glimpse into the daily life of this ethnic minority in Russia’s Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District in western Siberia.
