German-Palestinian filmmaker and journalist Rashad Alhindi was born in Kuwait in 1977, moved with his family to Syria at age 11, and came to Germany in 1998. After studying German language and literature, he began work as a journalist in 2011, and in2015, he founded ABWAB, Germany’s first printed Arabic newspaper. Alhindi has been working as a researcher, scenographer and producer for documentaries since 2014, when he co-produced “Journey to the Unknown”, a documentary for Aljazeera-TV that follows two Syrian refugees trying to reach Europe.

“Die Deutschlander”, Alhindi’s latest film, has screened at a number of international film festivals and will have its Turkish premiere at Foça Film Days 2022.
