Award-winning director Ralitza Dimitrova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1962 and graduated from the Russian State University of Cinematography in Moscow with a diploma in cinema direction in 1986. After more than 15 years as an assistant director and director with Bulgarian National Television, Dimitrova left to pursue a career as an independent documentary filmmaker. Her recent documentaries include Ballade for Galilei, which received the award for Best Documentary at the TAYF International Short Film Festival in Istanbul in 2022, and What Colour is this World, which won awards at both the European Spiritual Film Festival 2021 in France and the 6th Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival 2020 in Greece.
Her film "Surova" was selected for screening at Foça Film Days 2022.
