“When an object ends its journey with its owner, my journey with that object begins.” With that short yet penetrating observation, Hüseyin Taşpınar explains his interest in collecting, which is documented by Ömer Gürel in his first film, “The Odyssey”. This poetic short doc is a road movie that allows us to accompany Taşpınar as he searches for truth in the cultural artifacts of modern Anatolia. Discovering and lovingly repairing the detritus of the late 20th century, Taşpınar is devoted not only to the material transformation of objects, but to his own spiritual transformation as well.
