Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu was a rare figure in Turkey’s art world. A member of a distinguished family, Bedri Rahmi created his own ecole, nurtured numerous students, and earned his living through his art. Taking it’s title from one of Bedri Rahmi’s poems (Bahar-ı Teranedar, Ali Kemal Pasiner’s feature-length documentary reveals not just a painter and poet, but a true man of the people, and one with a deep reverence for his homeland. Recently digitized selections from Bedri Rahmi’s never-before-seen 8-mm film archive along with interviews with Ara Güler, Cengiz Bektaş, Devrim Erbil, Mustafa Pilevneli, Teoman and Gülseren Südör, Hanefi Yeter, and Hughette and Rahmi Eyüboğlu paint an intimate picture of a cultural icon, including his family life and his teachings, illuminating the themes brought forward in his work.

 

 

 

Bedri Rahmi Ali Pasiner headshot

Ali Kemal Pasiner was born in 1980 in Istanbul. After graduating from Maltepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2009, he continued his studies with a producer’s course at Yapımlab, and also served as a speaker at Plato Vocational School. He is the founder of the Istanbul-based Pasiner Film Production Company, which specializes in promotional films. Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu – Those Who Unravel The Secret of Earth” is Pasiner’s first documentary. The film had its festival premiere at the 2024 Antalya Film Festival, where it received a Special Jury Award, and it subsequently won the Best Documentary Film Award at the Haliç Goldenhorn Film Festival.
