Ancient Roman Plovdiv presents both the latest archaeological discoveries and the magnificent structures from the Roman period in the history of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. This documentary from Boris Slavchev Mariy features unique drone footage that highlights the city’s complex layout and well-preserved structures along with informative presentations from local archaeologists. The documentary includes the first drone footage of two basilicas from the early Christian period. Archaeologists, architects and other experts share the historical significance of these discoveries and preservation efforts who explain Plovdiv's historical significance during the Roman period.
Director Boris Slavchev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and currently lives in Rome, Italy. He graduated from the University of Sapienza, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy’s Department of Theater and Cinema. Boris already has two film projects in his pocket, including an award-winning short film and a feature-length documentary.
