Heritage

Many films have been made about Turkey’s “Village Institutes”, the rural centers set up during the 1930s and 1940s to provide an idealized education to the Turkish peasantry. Heritage differs from other documentaries we have seen in that it tries to understand the spirit of the structures built during that period.

As the film follows architecture students from Çukurova University who are conducting a survey project, it shows us how the activity becomes more than just classwork, and how these historic buildings still possess the spirit of the era in which they were built.
