Focused on the Women of Heraion Teikhos, this documentary is inspired by cultural studies examining the relationship between archeology and layers of memory. The film presents a story whose trail stretches back from personal memory to collective memory, intertwining the stories of the women who are excavating the five-thousand-year-old ancient city of Heraion Teikhos with information provided by the head of excavations, the history of the Thracians, and elements from director Özge Deniz Özker’s own autobiography. Özker investigates the connection between her personal life, history, and cultural heritage in this documentary, which promises audiences an unforgettable journey at the place where the past intersects with personal memory.

Özge Deniz Özker was born in Tekirdağ in 1981. She received her undergraduate degree from Eskişehir Anadolu University, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Department of Cinema and Television and her Master’s Degree from Izmir University of Economics, writing her thesis on “Aerial Abstractions: Aerial Photography As An Art Form”. In 2024, she completed her Proficiency in Art education at Yıldız Technical University, Department of Art and Design. Özge Deniz, and she is currently working as a lecturer at Çukurova University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. Özker has been making documentary films since 2010, and her earlier films “Refika” and “Overlooking the Sea” have won various awards at festivals in both Turkey and abroad.
