Waiting for Jean Paul

Some people find poetry in ruins. Jean-Paul Musard found poetry in restoration. As mayor of Boege, a small town in the heart of the French Alps, Musard led the effort to restore the nearby Rocafort Castle. Built in 1090 and destroyed in 1305, this neglected medieval castle had all but disappeared beneath the lush vegetation of the Haute-Savoie. Today, the castle once again rises in glory, thanks to the vision of this remarkable man. Thibault Walthert’s short documentary Waiting for Jean Paul captures the passion and poetry of the man, the castle, and the magnificent landscape.
