But today, with the development of mass production and the availability of cheap replicas, sandalmaking, like many other traditional occupations, has become a dying art. The Master Without an Apprentice introduces us to Fevzi Olca, an artisan, poet, and the last sandalmaker of Marmaris, a town famous for its leather sandals.
