Tattoo Uprising

Tattoo Uprising chronicles the changing attitudes about tattooing from antiquity to the present. The documentary, which was over 40 years in the making, presents a sweeping overview of tattooing, from Bibilical references and early Christian practices to the voyages of Captain James Cook and the ever-evolving image of the tattoo in the Western world. The film features an extraordinary cast of characters from the world of tattooing in the United States, as well as a cameo by German filmmaker Werner Herzog, who allows us a rare glimpse at his Ed Hardy tattoo.
