Derya Manaz graduated from the International Relations and EU Department of Izmir Economic University in 2010. She is currently working as a teacher of literature. Karakılçık, which is her first documentary film, was awarded second prize in the IVA Natura Short Film Competition in February 2022.

"Karakılçık" was selected for screening at Foça Film Days 2022.
