Born in Bursa in 1998, Ömer Gürel grew up with an interest in both photography and handcrafts. In 2019, he began his studies at the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at the Necmettin Erbakan University Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture in Konya. Gürel has worked on professional film sets while still a student.  

His first film as writer/director, "The Odyssey", was selected for screening at Foça Film Days 2022.
