Foça is not Bodrum. It’s not Antalya. It’s not Kuşadası. But ever since Club Med opened here in 1967, tourism has been a mainstay of Foça’s economy. How has tourism in Foça changed from the time Club Med opened its doors as the first holiday village in Turkey more than 50 years ago? And how has tourism changed Foça? These questions form the starting point of the workshop "Kültürü Belgeleyen İnsan", a one-day workshop being conducted as part of Foça Film Days 2024 “Day of Workshops” on Sunday 13 October. Workshop participants will work together under the guidance of four documentary film directors to develop a short film. As part of the workshop, participants will conduct and record oral histories of Foça residents who will share their experiences and thoughts about how tourism has affected them and their town.
