Foça Film Days 2023 Workshop Program
Foça Film Days 2023 Visiting Artists Alexandros Zilos and Ioanna Lykou invite workshop participants to create "Site-Specific Visual Storytelling" projects in Foça. (This workshop will be conducted in Turkish and English.)
In this workshop, documentary filmmaker Kurtuluş Özgen & anthropologist Meltem Ulu will help participants to record oral histories of Foça residents wanting to share their memories and stories about their relationship with the sea.
This workshop for children ages 8-15 will be conducted in Turkish by the NGO 'Kentimiz İzmir Derneği'. Participating children will enjoy playing games designed to increase their knowledge and interest about cultural heritagea in a fun and interactive way.
Participants will work together with artists Tolga Kurut and İbrahim Şahin and archaeologist Ertan Aksoy to create a wall mosaic made of small cubes of stone. After the workshop, the mosaic will be permanently installed in Foça near where archaeologists have discovered mosaics from Roman times.
