Derik is a district of Mardin, a province in the southeast of Turkey. Armenians were among the first of many civilizations that have at one time or another made these lands their home. The local residents have always lived in peace and harmony, with no distinction made according to race, religion or language. But over time, the Armenian population migrated to the west of Turkey or overseas. Remaining in Derek tells the story of the last three Armenians of Derik: Zekeriya Sabuncu, and husband-and-wife Yurşalin and Naif Demirci. This short documentary has been screened at a number of festivals both in Turkey and abroad, including Documentarist – the 14th Istanbul Documentary Film Days.
