After receiving degrees in business administration and finance, Mehtap Şamiloğlu decided to pursue an acting career by studying at the Craft Acting Workshop in Istanbul. Şamiloğlu then went on to work as an assistant director at the Craft Theater, a position in which she continues to this day.

"Sede", which is her debut as a film director, will be premiering on the opening night of Foça Film Days 2021.
