Sede

Sediye Yokuş lives alone in the remote village of Başkaya in Kars, a mountainous province in northern Turkey. Her husband has left her an early widow, and her children have gone off to study at university. In this harsh environment, she is able to provide for herself and her children through the money that she earns through animal husbandry, a traditional livelihood of the region. In this debut film from Mehtap Şamıloğlu, the hardship, loneliness and beauty of Sede’s life in Başkaya are presented in wordless harmony.
