Remix is a video technique first used by avant-garde artists as a way to create meaning. The technique is based on the principle of recycling. Using the basic opportunities that video offers, found footage is re-edited in a way that replaces the original meaning with new meaning. This method moves the viewer from a passive to an active state, making it possible for them to imprint their own viewpoint on the images.

With the support of the Foca Municipality,  the U.S. Mission in Ankara, and the Izmir Film and Television Producers Association, Foca Film Days organized a Remix Workshop on 9-10 April at the Foça History Centre. Under the guidance of instructor Hande Zerkin, participants created remixed videos on the theme of “Cycles”. You can watch them here.
