Beemaster

Beemaster, shot at an apiary in Wronów, Poland, focuses on the relationship between man and nature. The film began as an observation of the filmmaker’s grandfather, the eponymous beemaster, during the rapeseed honey harvest. As director Weronika Wisniewska explains, “My grandfather has been taking care of bees all his life. His parents gave him knowledge about bees that has been part of our family for generations. For several years, during the harvest, I have been photographing and writing down memories of my grandfather. This year, I finally dared to grab the camera. My grandfather is probably the last person to be practicing in my family. I am looking at something that is disappearing and will probably never come back. In all of this, I can see many possibilities for preserving this transient world and the traditions of my family.
