Tayfun Belet was born in Izmir and received both his BA and MA degrees from Yaşar University. A director, producer and screenwriter, he has directed more than 10 documentary films, including “Apprentice” and “Quiet, Calm in the Aquarium”, which screened at Foça Film Days in 2018.  Belet’s films have been broadcast on Turkish television as well as international channels such as RTL, ZDF, CNC and Al Jazeera. He has over 200 awards to his credit, including a UNESCO Achievement Award. In addition to his creative work as a filmmaker, Belet has been a faculty member in the RTV Department of Istanbul Culture University since 2019. 

His film "Unkapanı: The Endless Tale" was selected for screening at Foça Film Days 2022.
