Esra

Since the dawn of mankind, art and spirituality have always been closely intertwined. This phenomenon is well illustrated by the art of manuscript illumination, or ‘Tahzib’, a medieval artform with deep religious roots. But how can the art of illumination survive in a world where manuscripts are a thing of the past? This short doc tells the story of Esra, a Turkish artist living in Barcelona who has found a place for this ancient artform in today’s world. The film is also an attempt to show that beauty can be found not only in the work of art, bit in the artist as well.
